Abstract: A generalization of the notion intuitionistic fuzzy set is given in the spirit of ordinary interval valued fuzzy sets. The new notion is called Interval valued intuitionistic fuzzy sets (IVIFS). Here we present the basic preliminaries of IVIFS theory.
