Abstract: In the present work, we consider a new ranking for intuitionistic fuzzy alternatives, that is, alternatives represented by intuitionistic fuzzy pairs. This ranking is inspired by the "necessity" and "possibility" operators corresponding to such alternative. Some properties of the new ranking method are studied and a comparison with other ranking methods is provided.
