The hierarchical operators over generalized nets are of 6 different types:
| Operator | Way of action | Replacement |
|---|---|---|
| H1 | extending | GN place → new GN |
| H2 | shrinking | part of a GN → GN place |
| H3 | extending | GN transition → new GN |
| H4 | shrinking | part of a GN → GN transition |
| H5 | extending or shrinking | GN subnet → GN subnet |
| H6 | extending | GN token → GN subnet |
